1996 Ford Ranger Heat & A/C Controls
looking for heater controls for inside 1996 Ford Ranger. My control that switches it from hot to cool has no resistence...so truck always blows hot heat. anyone know if theres a way to fix this problem.

96 Rangers with A/C have an electric motor drive for the temperature blend door, those without A/C have a cable from the temp control.
For either type, the most common failure is at the mechanical connection between the actuator and the blend door. Read this for a cheap fix: http://www.blenddoorfix.netfirms.com/ |
Sounds like he might be saying the potentiometer in the dash went bad if I'm reading his post correctly. If so, then you will need that for your control panel, or a replacement.
Don't know of any of the pot's going bad though. |
when the truck is running....i can turn the knob that allowing the air or heat to blow out the vents on and it blows heat no matter if I have it turned to hot or cool. does this help any?

Pull the temp knob off and make sure its not broken.
When the heat is on does the hoses going into the heater core get hot? Last option is the blend door problem. |
