1999-2011 Console Armrest fix
If your Ranger came with bucket seats (not the 60/40 bench) as mine did, your center console armrest (which is made of cursed plastic) easily breaks when reaching over to open the passenger door.
Well, maybe not that easy, but you do have to be very mindful of its inability to bear the load of your body.
Mine looks like this:
Dorman makes a repair part for this (Dorman 924-834), and it's made of steel. Thank the aftermarket GODS!
They only list it for 2004-2011 Rangers, and I have a 2003 Ranger XLT.
I gambled and won! It fit perfectly and feels so much more solid.
It's kind of tricky installing it, but once you remove that pivot rod, it's by the numbers easy.
This is the cheapest I've found. It retails at auto parts stores for 60ish bux: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Center-Cons...EAAOSwa69bJD4g
I paid 41.
It will also work on the armrests that have the retracting cupholder like the Explorer does.
Sorry...I just said Explorer in a Ranger forum
