97 ford ranger interior question

hey guys new to the site and i have been looking at the posts and searched, found a lot information but nothing that relates to my question. i have a 5speed 97 ranger reg cab and i have no tachometer and want to replace my gauge cluster with a newer one. i found one on ebay for a 2000 ranger and i wanted to know if it would work on mine, and if it does is there any wiring that must be done to get the tachometer to work?also (had to sneak this in there) i have a bench seat and want to convert to bucket will it be hard to do it or can i use the stock rails? if any1 can help that would be great, if not i'll keep searching

i don't think one from an 00 will swap into yours, your's is old style and the wiring is a lot different.

Add a Tach to the dash, a lot easier and no worries about wiring.

it is pretty much a plug and play. the only issue you may run into is the water temp gauge, and if you do, it's just a matter of swapping your original one into the new cluster. oh, and the door ajar light and fuel reset light may need to have the wires swapped.

i have a cluster from an 03 ranger in my 95.

lot more wires to hook up that way. no extra wires need to be added to do a stock cluster.

Worst case scenario you may have to repine a wire for the Check Engine light. I have a 2001 Sport Explorer cluster in my 1996 Ranger and I didn't have an issue with the water temp gauge either. (Thanks for your help with my cluster questions when I did this swap Drppdyllwrngr)
