Using special fabrics on the headliner

Hey, I'm in the process of changing out my headliner, since the people who owned this truck before me were clearly using it for their own tobacco lab!

I go the headliner board out, now I want to put some cool, patterned fabric up there to personalize it. Anyone have any experience using stuff other than the stock interior foam-based fabric?

I know that it helps if it's stretchy, and I've read up a lot on how to get the old foam off the board, and such.

I want to put heat-blocker up there first, then some light foam-backed stuff, and ideally a nice cotton batik-patterned thing.
Originally I was going to just adhesive the batik to the board, but it's not stretchy, so now I"m leaning toward attaching it to the foam-backed stretchy fabric.

Any thoughts, folks?

Thanks, new Ranger owner and new member

I've not replaced a head liner in a ranger but I did in a Jeep Cherokee. I used a camo fleece fabric from the fabric store and stuck it with 3M spray adhesive. Spend the money and get the 3M, the cheaper stuff will let the fabric fall back down. It's stupid simple to do and gives the vehicle a very custom look. I even ended up doing the visors to match.

Cleaned up the old foam. Be VERY careful to not mess up the form

Finished product. This is before I did the visors, and I ran my wiring hidden in the roof for my cb before reinstalling
