So after cleaning out the rust today, I discovered some cracks and holes in my floor. I am wondering if someone makes a new floor pan or do I need to get metal and weld new metal in place...If the latter, what thickness of metal do I need? The cracks are almost near the bottom of the door frame, if that helps the answer any.

 

LOL! I wondered where you were going after reading the title!! Sucks to hear about the floor though, I just dealt with some rusty frame issues myself. I would go with 1/4" thick steel(stainless would be prefereable but you could just cover it in some undercoating) and then patch it in from the inside.. 1/4" might be overkill, but I would rather it be too thick then too thin..

 

You can buy replacement floor pans, not sure what companies do where you are but most parts stores should be able to order them!

I think 1/4" would be a little too thick....but I'm not a welder, yet. I will learn soon!

 

1/4" would be WAAAY too thick. Most are only 18 or 20 gauge.

 

X2 Pretty sure I used 18 gauge to patch a big hole in my '87 chevy
