Painting Interior Help

Ok I was wanting to paint the bezel and center console and some other things but no fabric or vinyl. I know there is a guide but it will not let me open it for some reason. I need someone to explain the steps to doing it. The first time that I did it all I did was paint it and it tuned out looking good but I want the glass look. Also it is a little rough and scratchs easly, anyone that can help it would greatly be appriciated.

For the bezel just clean it really good to get any cleaners or anything off of it and if you already have paint on it scuff it up then paint it with Krylon Fusion Gloss paint. The Krylon is great stuff.

What about clear coating and wet sanding, Im looking for the glass look. The Krylon Fusion worked ok but wasnt dark enough, it came out almost orange and was suppose to be red. I bought some other paint and came out with just as good results.

As far as I'm aware no one really wet sands or clear coats their bezels, it's all about how clean it is, the paint you choose and how many coats you put on. But if your looking for a mirror like finish I don't think you will be able to get it perfect because you are spraying onto a dull plastic surface.

I don't see any reason why you can't spray a top coat or two of clear polyurethane over your color paint. It will certainly give you the glossy look you're going for, and will help with scratches and nicks in the future.

I need to do this soon too, the rubberized finish on mine is peeling away. I would sand the bezel to bare plastic finishing w/ a fine sandpaper, somewhere around 800 probably, clean it well, use a krylon fusion color or some plastic primer w/ the color you want after the primer is wet sanded. Then another wet sand and clear coat. Try to stick with the same brands if you do the primer then color route otherwise you may run into issues (peeling and blistering) It may seem like a little overkill but if you going for the show car look it will definitely give you the best results and hold up the best over time.
Also when yo do it don't just go to the edges, go around the edges so your paint ends on the back of the bezel, it will keep the edges from cracking and peeling.

Adhesion promoter works well when you use it for things that call for it, but i think most of these plastic paints and primers have built in adhesion promoters to make up for to the release agents in the plastic.

yeah I didn't use primer nor clear on my bezel, but if you start out light with plastic and let it tack up then spray a heavier coat you'll be okay, just don't spray real heavy the first time cause the paint will just run/ and blotch/spoty, take your time and it will turn out great. :)
