Android Auto Upgrade?
Android Auto Upgrade?
Hi fellow Ranger enthusiasts,
I've recently moved to Thailand and bought my first car – a Ford Ranger 2.2 XLT AT Y2019 4x2. It's an amazing truck with some cool exterior mods done by the previous owner, which I totally love. However, I'm facing a couple of issues – notably, the tire noise and gas mileage, but these are overshadowed by how fun the truck is to drive.
The previous owner made another upgrade by installing an aftermarket Android-based infotainment system. It's impressively integrated with the Ford's architecture, working seamlessly with the camera, sensors, door sensors, and steering wheel buttons. It's mapped to a Ford Focus of the same era, which is fine by me. However, the system is incredibly slow, which can be a bit frustrating.
I'm very accustomed to using Android Auto by plugging in my phone, but this current system just doesn't cut it speed-wise.
So, here's my question to this knowledgeable community: Would you recommend upgrading the existing system with more RAM and a better CPU to enhance its speed? Or is there a better alternative, like a specific Android Auto infotainment kit that would fit my Ranger? Does that exist for this build year?
Any suggestions or experiences you could share would be immensely helpful. Looking forward to your valuable insights!
Cheers!
