Another Explorer Seat Swap Question

Guys,

**YES I HAVE USED THE SEARCH BUTTON**

I recently got a good deal on some power/leather seats from a 1997 Explorer. After getting them wired and installed I found that one of the motors is bad in the drivers seat. I'm considering just tossing these seats and really spending some money for some great condition Explorer seats.

My question is "Will seats from an explorer 02 or NEWER fit in my truck without any modification?" I am 99% certain I have seen someone on these forums with 03 seats. I know seats from 01 or older will fit just fine, but I'd like to get newer ones if possible.

My tuck is a 1999 Super cab Ranger. As I said the seats from the 1997 Explorer fit and work just fine. I would just prefer the newer style of Explorer seats.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I remember reading something about the seats being too wide to fit inside the Ranger cab.

Here's what will fit in the ranger's

98-01 Explorer 2 & 4 door leathers will fit
02+ Explorer Sport
02+ Sport Trac

02+ 4 doors are too wide and they have a different style rails.

I have 02+ Explorer Sport leather seats in my 04 extended cab. The only thing I had to modify was to make the holes bigger on the seat rails. I have power non heated so it was easy for me to wire up the drivers seat. Here's how they look:

I just got a 1998 ranger and I dont know alot about what seats will fit. My seat has a metal bar thats goes aross my lower back on the driver seat (thats not lumbar support). I was wanting to get some seats to replace them. I wanna know what seats or any make or year will fit my ranger? Im not real picky I just need somthing comfortable, or could I possibly swap the driver and passenger seat out?

quick question. i have a 95 and i'd like to replace my wore out gray cloth seats and i was wonder if ya'll know if the 98-01 applies to that or do i need to look for some leather explorer seats in the same gen as my truck? i know the newer ones will more than likely be nicer but i'm curious to know what i can get to easily do myself. if i can it'd be nice to go in with the leather seats and the center console to go with it. i'd also like to go in with the overhead console as well but i already know i can make it work but that's more of a finisher mod after i redo the interior and do a few other things i've been wantin to do.

Is your truck a regular cab or extended cab? I know for sure that the explorer seat's won't fit a regular cab The rails are different and seats will make you sit high up in the cab. Also regardless of cab type it may be a little harder for you to fit a 98+ seat in a 95 but I'm not 100% on that. I think that the 98+ ranger and explorer rails are a little bit different. The front will line up but the rears will be off.

My question is this, on my 04 it has air bag weight sensors in the seat, correct or whatever they are called (I know nothing when it comes to airbags)? What do you do if the seats you swap in do not have any? I am guessing that’s what they are, I know there is a plug that goes to the seat and I am assuming that’s what it is(my seats are not power, so that’s why I assume it has something to do with the air bag system).

I have leather explorer seats in my 93 reg. cab, so explorer seats will fit in a reg. cab, you just have to swap the tracks out.

So will the normal cloth explorer seats out of a 98-00 fit directly into my regular cab 99 or not. It said leather above but I don't see why a cloth would be any different.

02 Explorer Sport Seats in 2004 Ranger Ext Cab

So i bought 2002 Exp Sport seats. Cloth non power. Finally got the pretensioner bolted on and secured. went to mount in the truck and the holes on seat frames are too narrow and too short.

Do you have to take up carpet? How big of the hole did you all drill out? Drill bit size? I am worried that I am going to take off too much and I will get the seat wiggling.

Does anybody have pictures of the process? I am getting tired of messing with it. Anyhelp is appreciated!

Was it sport or sport trac? If sport trac and you have an extended cab, you should only have to enlarge a few of the holes and they bolt right up. I did everything for my swap in a matter of a day. I didn't know the 02+sport would be compatible

The seats I have are out of a 2002 2 Door Explorer Sport. I had to enlarge the holes for the mounting points on the right hand side of the passenger seat, by the reclining lever. But not hte holes are off a little on the other front mounts.
I appreciate your repsonses and help

I'm a Canadian living in Ontario, I collect 4x4 Ford Rangers.
My latest score is a 2009 FX4 5 speed and it will have a Detroit locker in soon.
I also thinking of parting out 2004 FX4L22 a bit of a rust bucket.
Also 2007 Mazda B4000 4x4 5 speed
A 2003 FX4 level 2 likely a parts truck 5 speed

Guys -I have a 1996 Ford Ranger Extended Cab. What year(s) Explorer seats (power/non-power) would directly bolt in (maybe with minor mods)? Or, would seats from a 2002 Ford Ranger Extended Cab also work? I am considering these two options.

Thanks! I am new to the forum and searched but didn't see any post that could point me in right direction, or I may have overlooked. My humble apologies, if this has been answered already .

I just want to swap to 40/40 power seats. I'd prefer to stay cloth seats. I live in the south and leather does not go well with our summers.

Has anyone tried to.put to Explorer console in between the 40/40 seats?

Yep, it's a very popular addition and has been for years. Check out the How-To section on this forum, it's likely you'll find one about installing this console.
