Another new OHC pic thread... but with a couple modifications!

I installed my OHC last weekend....finally.... and took some pics of it tonight!

It was tan, but I painted it with Krylon Fusion satin black.

I decided to do something a little different and mounted my Sirius satellite radio into the OHC. It BARELY fits! I drilled two 1/2" holes behind it for the wiring to go through but you can't see it when the radio is on the bracket.

I pulled the 12v power point out of the radio bezel and it's ziptied behind the glove box so it's hidden when connected to the Sirius. To fill the hole in the bezel, I picked up a USB power outlet and made it fit into the empty hole using the plastic holder from the power point I removed.

I have a few issues so far with the radio up there, it doesn't like the heat of the roof so it won't turn on in the middle of the day when it's very hot and sunny out. Once the truck is moving and the interior cools off it works great. I just have to find a way to either splice into the auxiliary input or hide it too and maybe put a switch in the hole for my driving lights.

That is a great idea and looks good. Have you thought about trying to insulate that part of the roof? Maybe there is something that you could use to deflect the heat from that area??

I was trying to think of something I could put up there. I was going to switch it out with my father-in-laws for a day or two to make sure that's what the problem is. I never had a problem with heat before, but his is in direct sunlight and works fine.
