anybody install a fuel press gauge

just want to know where you installed the sending unit?

Goodysgotacuda Jan 10, 2009 08:18 AM

..what engine?

howells Jan 10, 2009 11:06 AM

4.0l sorry

My91Ranger Jan 10, 2009 11:33 AM

On the fuel rail. On the back left of the engine on the fuel rail there is a shrader test valve that the fuel pressure sender is attached to. Its a bit of a pain to get to on the 4.0. I've installed a couple different ones on my truck if you have any more questions.

theres another shrader valve on the rear? i see one on the front. i will take a look.

howells Jan 10, 2009 12:23 PM

i dont think so. its a 4.0 sohc. 2008. the fitting with the gauge dosent work. so i ordered a ford fuel rail fitting from autometer hoping it would work but its the same size as the shrader valve. 1/16 nptf male ford fuel rail adaptor...3280 is the part #

nobody has done this?

zabeard Jan 12, 2009 08:10 AM

Man I wish mine was on the front!

Mine is on the back passenger corner. I cant get to it with the blower on it, so I have yet to hook it up.

howells Jan 12, 2009 10:03 AM

ya its nice that its on the front but i have nothing to adapt to it.

My91Ranger Jan 12, 2009 10:04 AM

Summit Part

I'm 90% sure that's the fitting I used for mine. It screws on the shrader valve and adapts it to a 1/8th NPT which is the same as the fuel pressure sending unit that I have. Then I just got a double female connector from the hardware store.

howells Jan 12, 2009 01:17 PM

thats what i am looking for a double female. i will take a look at the hardware store. i dont have anythig at work that size.

howells Jan 14, 2009 10:24 AM

no fitting at home depot. where did tou find the fitting?

Dangerranger01 Jan 14, 2009 05:37 PM

That fitting has a 1/16NPT. most hardware stores aren't going to have that small. Check an autoparts store, might get luck there.

My91Ranger Jan 14, 2009 05:51 PM

Once I used the above listed fitting, I used a double female fitting of 1/8 NPT. My local hardward store had several different ones to choose from. 1/16 double female will be far more difficult to find.
