Grey to Black interior trim?

What would I use to change my interior color from charcoal gray to black? I was thinking vinyl dye. Does anyone have experience with this? How well does it hold up over time?

I would not paint all the trim. Eve with good paint it will still wear off in areas and look like crap but thats just me.

I used Duplicolor Interior Paint (Vinyl and Fabric)...cleaned it with soup and water with a brillo pad and gave it a couple coats of Duplicolor Adhesive promoter(just dont use it on the glove box)....I painted everything in the inside black(except carpet and seats) and it has held up fine and whenver something does get srcatched I just touch it up really quick with the same paint....

Ya, I'm in the process of this. Tried Krylon Fusion first, but that comes off easily. Switched to the Duplicolor and it looks better and holds up better.

Beard used SEM.....the best stuff on the market hands down. It's what the professional shops use for changing interior colors and such(WCC, GAS, Unique, etcblahblah.), as well as many other coatings. SEM is the shiznit as I've used it before on interior paintwork...nothing quite as extensive as a full interior color change.

right Sem is awesome. but damn the price is rediculously expensive. at $10-15 per can he better make sure he wants to change the color of his interior; but if he decides too he will not be dissappointed with Sems...

the "best way" ( and the only way I would do it to my truck) is to buy the black plastic interior trim pieces from ford. Obviously not as cheap as painting, but definately the best looking. Ive seen some pretty nasty looking interiors that have been painted.

I'm not real exited about using paint because any scratch would show the base color. I'd much rather use something that would actually seep into the plastic. Anyone heard of or familiar with the "dye" method?

I seem to remember it being used on one of the Spike TV "Powerblock" show projects and it seemed to work well, but I don't remember what product they used. I'm pretty sure it was a dye and not a paint.

Something like these I think...

Trim & Molding Dyes

Plastic Restoration For Car Door Handles and Trim

Dye in Aerosols for vinyl leather plastic and carpet, match factory colors

Vinyl Color | Plasti-kote Automotive Restoration Spray Paint

COLORBOND Interior Color Dye Spray, Leather/Vinyl, Black

I looked at the SEM stuff, and if I end up painting, I'll go with that. I love to see how Beard's have held up.
