How do you remove the cigarette lighter tray, and ash tray in a 1995 Ford Ranger?

 

If it's like the later models or any car I've ever owned, there is a springy top piece when you open it. If you press down on it, the ashtray should pull out. It may need some "wiggling" but you shouldn't have to pull hard.
