bench to bucket seats (where to find or just do the mod?)

they had to take out my armrest/center console off my bench seat (60/40) because i was losing .3 cubic feet (sub box)...so i'm just going to go to bucket seats.

where and how much is it to get actual bucket seats? i just want truck bucket seats, i don't care about power or lumbar adjust, just the seat back and foward motion, and the backrest tilt foward and back.

how much would it cost to get bucket seats? used, new, what models fit?

or if its that much money (or any) should i say screw it and do the mod? how does the mod look? i'm not a big seat cover fan, so it needs to look ok w/o them...

thanx.

Do it like this and you wont need seat covers.

Last quote from that site:
"And this is the final product. You will have to buy some seat covers, to cover up the edge, or you can try sewing the fabric back up, to have a stock look."

yeah I realize it showed a sewn look, but I thought it was funny you said wouldn't need them then the site says would...oh whatever I'm really tired :)

id rather go custom. if i ever find a donor 60/40 or a/some buckets, thats wut i would do. custom so i can do some things that i wanted to it instead of having a bought one look like it was torn to hell.

Well no center console fits mine b/c I have a manual and bench. If I convert to buckets tehn I have a lot more room to work with.

If your coment was why custom? b/c I am tired of dealing with theft. My headunit will be mounted in teh console at 45 degrees. The console built out of steel will be a good deterrant. I will also have a flip cover for the headunit that locks over the unit.

I'm doing this mod and building a custom center console as well. I don't want a prebuilt console...it's not mine then. I wont be happy with it because my plan is to incorporate a lot of things into mine. I want to say "I built that".

seats are expensive. if you google OEM truck seats, theres one site that has a choice of some seats but i couldnt find prices and the address was in iowa or sumthin like that.

I converted my 60/40 seats in my old s10 to bucket seats. Just cut out the center area and bought seat covers for them. They looked like brand new bucket seats. I am going to end up doing this to my seats in my truck now as soon as my warranty is up. I am going to add the explorer console into my truck.

I did mine with my stepdads hack saw while he was at work. I used a hacksaw and a knife that you cut bread with to cut the cushion on the inside. It took my probably 10 mins to do this. After I did it and put the seat covers on it my step dad thought I bought new seats. All you do is cut a bar and the cushion. Very simple and looks very nice.
