Icon9 lv2 armrest issues

has anybody had a problem with the armrest in the lv2's breaking? like the plastic part the screws to the bottom of the armrest cracked bad and i've tried to fix it once and it didn't work. its the part the mounts it to the console so the plastic supports any weight put on it. i'm gonna try to epoxy it back today i just wondered if anyone had a similiar problem and how they fixed it. ford wants 144.80 for a new one. it blows...thanks

I have a Level 2 interior and mine are fine. Epoxy should work.

VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY common problem on these ranger shorty or long floor consoles. It starts WAY back in near the hinge and gets progressively worse. The parents putting all their weight on the rest destroyed mine...it had already began to crack.

Slide both seats forward, pull the oval plastic caps, then take a 8mm and unbolt the arm rest assy from the console. Pull out all the screws, and the vinyl/cloth rest upholstery will come off the 'frame/base'. Find some plastic epoxy and go to town on it. Should help it ALOT. I need to do this to my new armrest. If it doesn't help, your only option is new armrest hinge assy or get a junkyard rest.

TONS of rangers have this problem...alot of trucks I see on craigslist and autotrader dont even have the armrest still.

i din't have to take all that apart. i just popped it off the hinge.thats how i did it before. i riveted two pieces of aluminum in the centers were it drops in and it worked until my fiance's dog jumped in the drivers seat then across and knocked it half sideways. pissed me off real good.

You really should get something ontop of the crack..epoxy or fiberglass it...something to save it you know?

Show us some pics man.

It's funny....I've seen 4 trucks with the crack in the SAME EXACT PLACE as my old one. My new one has a small one forming that I never saw until I saw how my old one started. *i may be typing confusing things....I used to run a light grey console, then a dark grey console, now a black console. I stole the hinge and 'base' off the dark grey console and reused my black vinyl.

LOL. Actually, I dont. If I did, I'd be holding onto it for myself. It's good to have spares. lol.

Ty...what you forgot was that one little detail: isn't there like a $300 difference in price and a HUGE difference in avaliability? lol.

Time to hit the junk yard, or epoxy it. Considering how rare those black interiors are, I'd consider epoxy.

I don't understand why ford never put any kind of support under the armrest. Instead they just left a huge gap under the entire thing which is pathetic. it looks like they WANT everyone to break it. I added my own support.
