Piece around my gauges? how do i get it out?

I'm pretty sure there has been a thread over this but I didn't know what exactly to search for....I've been workin on redoing the interior since i just got my truck back from the wreck, and I want to paint that piece that is behind my steering wheel and in front of my gauges....it has the two screws on the top of it...how do i get that out? because i tried and i dont know if it just slides right out or what but I couldn't figure out how to get it out....

are you talking about the black piece that the clear window is attached to?

if so, i believe you might have to remove that whole section of dashboard to get to it. i could be wrong, though.

That black plastic part with the THREE screws in it is part of the dash.

You need to pull the kneeboard, radio bezel, and headlight/dimmer switches to get it out.
