I have managed to rig it to hang from the ashtray. I do believe a few others have done this as well.
I also, decided to leave my old mic holder in place, and found it would be useful if I was out of the truck and wanted access to the mic without reaching in.
Here it is.

I just tried to use some translucent glass paint to color the middle of the CB where the light comes out, a tint of green..
fail...

Can't get it thin enough, without brush/sponge/plastic strokes in it.
Now, I gotta find some clear green cellophane or something..

Just some temp shi* to make it look better, it's the only yellow/orange light in that area, everything else is green.

Open the face of the CB unit up. There should be a clear light and a colored filter between it and the screen. Pull the filter out and use some spray modeling paint from a hobby shop to pain the inside of the screen to match.
