I have seen several posts in the past about the driver side window not going up straight.
about halfway up the window well cant forward and subsequently not seal in the top left corner leaving a massive air leak noisy at speed.
I couldn’t find the posts that I mentioned so I decided since so many people are having this problem which is very common I would just start a new post because I have discovered an easy fix.
The problem is caused by the two little nylon bushings on the regulator Guide bar window bracket wearing and subsequently allowing the window to rock back-and-forth. Now for those of you who don’t like to for lack of a better term hillbilly engineer anything Here is how to fix this problem. You can replace the whole window Guide bar assembly which is a dealer item only just Google Ranger window guide bar and several dealers will come up that offer of this part for around 50 bucks shipped. Or you can do what I did go buy yourself a $2.98 pack of medium sized zip ties. Insert one on the front upper bushing between the guide bar and the bushing and pull it tight.
take another zip tie and pull it though the bottom bushing on the opposite (rear) side and pull it tight. Clip the ends of the zip ties so they don’t get tangled up in the actuator arm. These two zip ties will take up the slop in the worn nylon bushings and your window will stay straight as it moves up in the tracks. Be sure to lubricate the guide bar well preferably with some white Litho grease.
Problem solved, no more air leak!!!

Google Ford Ranger window guide bar and several dealers will display that has this dealer only part. JY not recommended because they will be worn also.

Just found this post as I’m dealing with the same issue. Curious how the zip tie hack has held up over the last few years. Definitely a more desirable way to go over replacing the guide bar. Is it still keeping your window on track? Thanks!
Thank you!!
I'm retintinting my windows and I noticed that my driver side window dips forward as it rolls down and then as you roll it back up it doesn't tilt back until almost the very top...
This wouldn't really bother me but since I tinted the window there was a small gap on the back side that normally would have been hidden but since it tilted forward you could now see where there was no tint... My OCD was driving me nuts luckily I found this thread I put a zip tie on the uppermost rear part and now my window does not tip forward at all!
Totally awesome. I was very generous with wheel bearing lube on the guide rail where the zip tie is so hopefully that will be enough to not wear it out?! There's no way I could have put a zip tie on the front of it just with how the positioning was and my hand would not have been able to get there so the back was the only way for me to do it I'll update here with how long this last but I'm hoping it lasts a while.
My truck is from 2001 so the guide rails are 22 years old... No way in hell I want to have to remove everything and redo the rails so this works and considering the age of the truck I think this is the fix for me at least.
