Dash Cluster - Clear Plastic Face - MA

Hey, this is an extension of my Dash Cluster project but thought I would start a separate thread to keep thing straight.

I unscrewed the front, clear plastic face, of the Cluster from the actual Meters.
BUT, nothing works as I expected so no surprise here, when I lifted the front off it was connected to a black plastic part just under the clear plastic.
I need to get the clear plastic separated from the black plastic part.

What do people thing is the best way to release the glued sections ?

What adhesive would be best to put the sections together after I am finished ?

Thanks for any and all comments.

The black 'plate' is glued to the clear 'cover'. I've cracked one in half trying to seperate them using a heat gun.

IDK.

Why do you need to seperate the two in the first place?

Thinking of something different and needed to separate them.

Heat gun hey, not sure, is that a real heat gun, the kind you can light a cig with or just the low heat version ?

Thanks, I cracked it a little so far BUT without heat.

I will attempt the heat gun sometime today, I hope and see where that gets me.

I am going to Thomas Ford in Beverly today and ask if the parts can be ordered separately; we will see.
One of my buddies works there and although Thomas Ford doesn’t dive their employees much of a discount it is still better than full price.

I wonder if the ’03 w/ tach is the same clear cover as the ’00 w/o tach ?

Looks like it is but knowing Ford’s better ideas it might not be.

nopers. The clear part may very well be the exact thing. But the black that presses against the overlays, nope.

I can see there is one rise not two as w/a tach so you are right on the black part.

But the Clear part maybe just what the doctor ordered.

thanks

Ford wants $40+ discounted for the Clear Lens assembly which includes the black plastic half.

I wish I could buy just the Clear Cluster Lens.
