removing gauge cluster

I'm no stranger to pulling interiors apart, but I've heard from some people that to remove the gauge cluster in a Ranger, you have to remove the steering wheel.

I've got an 02,with tilt steering. Do I have to pull the wheel off,or will I be able to pull the cluster out without pulling the wheel off?

Half of my gauge cluster lights are burnt out and need replacing. I can barely see my gauges at night as only about 3 bulbs still work.

first you have to take out the drivers seat, then the steering wheel. The pedals were getting in my way so I took those out too.

Burp.

Oh wait - you don't have to do any of that.

Ya you do, then the center console, passenger air bag, driverside rear tire, passenger front rotor, transmission.....

Just kidding, all you have to do it just play around with the cluster and it will come on out.

It will if you remove the green film from the back of the gauge

I had to take my rear slider off, along with my passenger side fender flares. Then it was accessible.
