darn cigarettes

I smoke in my truck, and have for a little over 3 years. My back window is disgusting and the other 3 are getting pretty gross. What do you guys recommend for removing nicotine from automotive windows? I have heard everything from Windex to warm water and dish soap to razor blades.

This is the first time I've heard of this problem. I smoke in my focus and ranger all the time and never seen such a thing. Can you post a picture?

Windex indeed. How you've never heard/seen it Hector is beyond me. The smoke will leave a "film" on the windows and it's noticeable.

Windows are down unless its raining really bad, then they are cracked just enough. Although if the temperature is lower I only lower the drivers side. I never thought of turning the air on, I'll have to give that a try. Hector, I'll try to grab a picture tomorrow but yeah its pretty much a film. The windshield is the worst when the sun hits it just right. So Windex seems to get the vote, but what kind of brush/sponge do you guys recommend?

I don't know, I guess I clean my vehicle regularly enough so it won't.
Plus, when I smoke I roll the windows down. I don't hotbox it.

When I used to smoke I would roll my windows down too. The "film" has kind of a blue tint to it and like he said you can see it when the sun hits the windshield just right.

Windex and a roll of regular paper towels will take care of it.

Same here with the window. Rubber floor makes it easy.

Hopefully its not too late...DONT use windex if you have tinted windows...unless it says ammonia free on it.

I smoke and my roommate smokes, I use this cleaner on our windows...

Ammonia and water will clean it up, then some glass cleaner like windex to finish up.

Thanks guys. i ended up taking care of it last weekend. I used Windex and regular ol paper towels. No window tint so no worries there. I took care of the mirrors while I was at it and WOW, this made a HUGE difference. Yeah, they were gross.
