Well I had this great carpet cleaning stuff and its still MIA to this day since the last time I had it was maybe 2 years ago, Was wondering since I cant recall wth it was, whats a great carpet cleaner, I have grey carpet in the beast and I guess I ahve a few oil stains maybe ? and its irrtating me, also a good seat cleaner would be amazing, truck has to start looking clean again for her new paint :)

lol man im looking for the same thing i keep putting it off....i have been thinking about takeing the truck in and haveing it done but all my friends think im crazy to pay some one else to clean my truck all up!

 

Nate - I have found most carpet cleaners work well, it's how much time you should put into it that is the point. Get your carpet cleaner and spray it diluted on to your carpet hitting the heavier soiled areas a little harder. Let it sit for a few minutes, crack a beer, whatever. With a bucket of warm water and a clean rag start working it in starting in the cleaner area and working to the dirty sections.

Change your water and rags frequently, otherwise you're just taking the dirt from one area of the truck and moving it into another. After the initial cleaning, I take dry white towels and just scrub at the moisture. You will be amazed at the amount of dirt you see. Repeat the procedure again if necessary starting with the cleaning solution, water, dry towels, etc. until you're satisfied with the amount of dirt that is coming of on the dry towels...there will still be some. Before moving on to the oil stains, there is still one very important step that a lot of people miss. Go to a housekeeping supply store and buy some textile rinse or you can use white vineager diluted 50/50. Don't oversaturate it the truck with it, but you want it to be damp enough to remove the extra soap in the carpet. The acid in the vinegar neutralizes the alkaline in the soap.

If you don't do this, your carpet will resoil very quickly. Soap left in the carpet becomes sticky and that attracts dirt everytime you get in and out of the truck. Pulls it right off of your shoes so to speak. While it's drying, you can hit the carpet with some Scotchguard and that helps keep the soil off of the heavy resoil areas.

For the oil stains, the same housekeeping supply store will have something for it. Or you can use the general clothes washing grease removers such as grease relief etc. Another cheaper way to go would be to take a little cooking oil and work it into the oil spot. You want to blot it out, not scrub it around again spreading the oil stain - don't want. After you have lightened the stain, you can take some WD-40 and break down the oil. Then clean the spot with the earlier above procedure. In fact, you should start by removing the oil stain first.

I've cleaned a lot of carpet over time and my vehicles interiors always look like new once I'm done. I just posted pictures of the outside of my Splash under General discussions. The inside is just as clean as the outside.

Got a wet/dry vac?

if so, here is what I have done for years. . .

Get some fantastic or 409.
spray the dirty areas heavily and the whole carpet overall lightly.

Take a scrub brush and work it in.

Get a hose. Yes, a hose.

turn on the wet/dry vac. Spray the hose (on spray not stream) on the carpet while vacuuming the water/fantastic/409 up at the same time.

Take your time, but; vacuum it thoroughly. Keep all the doors open and put a fan on it. It will be dry in a couple of hours.

this works on the seats as well.
It's amazing how well it cleans them.

I've been using ScotchGard carpet cleaner for everything that is cloth in my truck, it comes in a purple/white bottle, it takes off hard stains and if it gets dirty again just use a damp cloth to remove the new stain.

 

^ I think that was the stuff I had, I do have a dry/wet vac too, ill try all the ideas, plan on spending a really good amount of time on doing this

 

the best carpet cleaning stuff I have ever used (for cleaning throw rugs, and floormats for cars) is OB 205. is a commercial cleaner.

you wet area with hose. spray OB205 full strength on area, use a stiff bristle brush scrub for the area so its foamy like, let stand for 5 minutes, repeat once more, hose clean. the rinsing takes like 10 min to get all the soap out but it comes out like new every time.

OB 205 is a commercial cleaner, and as far as I know you can only buy it in 5 gallon buckets at $25 per pale. Also. it is NOT clearcoat safe, and will etch glass (due to the glass crystals in the soap) will irratate the crap out of cuts and make the burn, so if u have cuts on ur paws, wear rubber gloves. the stuff works great tho. Its also a godsend for those of us with white lettering out sense it takes literally 5 minutes to do all 4 tires and they come out like new when ur done.
