The difference between the 2004+ Ranger cluster and...

The difference between the 2004+ Ranger cluster and the 2004+ Mazda B-Series cluster

Hey guys,

I really didn't want to start this thread but I need to clear things up. There's a 5 year old kid in Las Vegas that's telling me there're no difference in the silver rings on the face plate of a Ranger FX4 Level 2 and the Mazda B-Series rings. If you look at the Mazda rings closely, you can obviously tell that they're rounded all the way over ie.. half rounds/half cirlces. The Ranger rings have a 90 degree edge on them. I think he's just pressing my buttons ... you know how kids can be sometimes.

djfllmn Sep 27, 2010 03:25 PM

there is very subtle differences but they are not the same cluster

Speaking of clusters, I've noticed on the '03 and older trucks, that the Rangers have white needles while the Mazdas has orange ones.

djfllmn Sep 27, 2010 06:00 PM

04+ Mazda clusters all have silver around the gauges. BUT....the black face gauges have a slightly different font than the Ranger ones. And Mazda's can have white face w/ that silver bezel around the gauge 'pods'. The font differences I'm absolutely unsure as I don't have a 04+ around me constantly anymore. There's pics found in this thread:

Thanks for posting those pics Shane.
The best way I can descibe it is that the Ranger rings have a flat top and the Mazda rings are rounded all the way over with a radius.

WOW....never noticed that! Looks like Ranger's have a land and a bevel and give the illusion of the faces being "deeper". While Maz gets 'clean' and 'sophisticated' with there soft silver rings. lol.

Something to also note is the needle bases........they're different. Possibly the whole needle is different but IDK.

We discover and learn new things everyday and this might be my one for the day. lol.

Meaning they are absolutely in no way interchangeable with one another. Interior wirings are TOTALLY different. They are sorta neat looking gauges though. For gauge options that work for your truck, PAshooter, click this link for a pic: http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...r/PA160016.jpg
