Which door panels do you have....and why don't I have them?

If you read my sig....you can tell what truck I have. I like that my truck is soooo simple. No options and what not = less to go wrong in the future. One thing I don't like is my door panels. Whats the deal. I would have at LEAST liked to have had map pockets. I mean c'mon Ford.....it couldn't have put you out THAT much to add them to these panels.

So........would door panels from an XLT fit with no mods (which I don't understand why they wouldn't) ?

Here is a shot of my door panel. Sorry it is so poor....it was done quickly.

I have seen different pull handles and different areas around the door handle area as well....all with map pockets.
I think if I make a run to the salvage yard, I can probably find some panels cheap and have map pockets. I just want to check ahead to make sure there aren't any huge hang ups I will encounter (I don't forsee any).

Thanks guys -Eric

your signature tells little about your vehicle
door panels are the most part are interchangeable
just get one that is a similar year to match the style

The donor truck for my '00 has power locks and windows as well as the nice mirrors, and I plan on swapping it all. I can do a how-to if interest is high enough, should be pretty easy to do though. I might even put the gauge cluster w/ tach into the '00.

Order yourself a couple of these from JCWhitney.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...+10714/c-10614

I did and really like them. I got them in gray and its just about the same gray as my door panels and they look nice. Easily installs with 4 screws that screw into your door panel. Before ordering them you HAVE to measure the distance between your door panel and the side of the seat, on both the driver's side and the passenger side, to make sure there's room for the pocket. On my truck there was just barely room. The pocket sticks out from the door 2 1/8", so that's the amount of clearance you need, plus a bit extra for the thickness of the plastic the pocket's made out of, say another 1/8". And be sure that when you mount it its not going to be in the way of the handle that opens and closes the window. Be sure you put a level on top of the pocket and put the pocket against the door, get it level, then mark where it goes, so that the pocket's top is level when you screw it on.

With an Edge or XL you will not get the door panels with map pockets unless you have power options. On the XLT you get the map pockets no matter if you have the power options or not. You should look for panels from an XLT with manual options for the direct swap. There is no modding to swap door panels, any ones from a 1995+ Ranger will fit.

Let us know what you come up with. I have the same panels and wouldn't mind having different ones.
