The used Cluster I bought had the mileage within 2K of my original cluster, but all you have to do is remove the needle from the speedometer, 3 screws, and the gauge face will come off which gets you to the odometer. Do the same with your original unit and just swap out the odometer. Or you can carefully remove the motor from the new unit and adjust the mileage and just put it back to what your original cluster was showing.

looks good guys!! I think I may have to try this. How easy is it to mess up the cluster by trying to make the mileage match the actual mileage on the truck?

It's easy to mess up the speedometer calibration while doing the odometer swap because the speedo needle must be removed and replaced. If you take precautions before disassembling the speedo head, it can be done fairly easily.

In this how-to, the author uses a flashlight battery to measure and restore the correct speedometer calibration. It is important to use the same battery in the same state of charge before and after.

If I found one, I need the whole cluster right? Not just the cover.

Got this on Ebay yesterday.

It still has the protective plastic wrap on it and only 3 miles.

Been wanting one of these for a long time now.

I finally did this mod to my truck last night and I have to say its my favorite mod so far. I have a 2000 2WD so I went with a 98 Exploder cluster in black and wow, i love the look and its great having a tac. Every indicator light was moved but everything works like it should and everything lights up like it should!
