Swapping seats from a 2006 into a 2001 and vise versa

Shouldn't be any problems.
Unbolt seats from the floor, I think around 2000 and up the mounts are welded to the underside of the seats, so changing just the seats and not the tracks can be an issue.
Seat sensor(airbag/seat belt reminder) plugs should be the same,
Not sure if all were pre-wired for power seats?

Rails are not welded to the underside of the seats, but they do have 6 big thick rivets that you will have to grind off. I just did a swap on my 2000 Ranger. New seats are buckets from a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac. Also, you may have to fabricate a bracket to mount your seat belt if you are just swapping seats. The belt was mounted to the seat assembly on old and new seats, but both were totally different. I didn't take pics of the seat belt mounts, but you can see the rails below before and after I separated them from the seat frame. You can see all the pics in my facebook album:
