Swapping seats from a 2006 into a 2001 and vise versa

Just wondering how straight forward this is going to be?

Anything that might make these year uncompatible with eachother?

Will they fit eachothers tracks?

Thanks.

Shouldn't be any problems.
Unbolt seats from the floor, I think around 2000 and up the mounts are welded to the underside of the seats, so changing just the seats and not the tracks can be an issue.

Seat sensor(airbag/seat belt reminder) plugs should be the same,
Not sure if all were pre-wired for power seats?

Rails are not welded to the underside of the seats, but they do have 6 big thick rivets that you will have to grind off. I just did a swap on my 2000 Ranger. New seats are buckets from a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac. Also, you may have to fabricate a bracket to mount your seat belt if you are just swapping seats. The belt was mounted to the seat assembly on old and new seats, but both were totally different. I didn't take pics of the seat belt mounts, but you can see the rails below before and after I separated them from the seat frame. You can see all the pics in my facebook album:

Final product turned out nice, but it was a bit of work.
