Score!!!!
Just picked up a set of '97 power leather explorer seats (passenger is full power too!). Got what I thought was a great deal from Walt & Vern's Auto Wrecking. $125 for both! Can't wait to put them in, but I'm waiting to get the center console so I don't have to pull the seats again.
They had another explorer there with everything still in it, but they couldn't sell anything yet cuz they just received the truck and hadn't had the chance to inventory everything yet. But the console is mine as soon as they pull it! Hopefully I'll be able to get it this week and then next weekend I'll be able to install everything. That'll give me time to clean 'em up really good.
For all you guys in the Seattle area, Walt & Vern's is the sh*t!! I know Buckley is a little ways to drive, but Al's Auto in Lynnwood wanted $600 for the same seats! I don't know about you, but I'll drive the extra 30 miles to save 5 bones! Plus they have a HUGE inventory and everything is warehoused out of the weather. You don't have to pull anything, it's already done.
I'll get more pics as the install progresses.

nice. i might have to check them out some time. there's a yard here called Covey's Auto Parts. They specialize in Ranger and Mazda parts, but they suck a**! I wanted a foglight switch, and they wanted $35 for it. I was like "just for that little switch?!?" and they said it had the wiring with it. Said they wouldnt part with it like that. I left and will never go back. Especially when i found the piece i needed for .99 cents on eBay, lol.

Also, how do I go about running power from the fuse panel? I'd like to do this right the first time.
i can see why old people like them so much!

Look nice. Start treating them with some leather cleaner/conditoner and that will keep those spiderwebbed areas from cracking and splitting anytime soon. Of all the leather treatments I have used, I prefer the cheaper Turtle Wax brand as it makes for a nice non greasy surface and doesn't have a strong smell. You may want to check into getting new seat foam to give them a fresh, firm feel especially if someone that had the Explorer before was "portly". You can get new foam at the Ford dealer, but you will need the interior trim code from the donor Explorer to make sure you get the right ones. I didn't have this code when I went to the dealer for the foam and was informed that there are 7 different seat configurations that were availible in the '01 year Explorers and each one has a different pad. Mine don't have the seat heaters, but the wiring for the power portion of the seat is simply a 12V power and ground (fused of course). You can't mess them up, if you have them switched, the seat will simply operate in the reverse that it is supposed to and you can switch the wires to make it operate correctly. The Explorer I removed mine from had 2 giant wiring harnesses attached to them but did nothing but I cut out all the wires and used the harnesses for my own 2 wire setup. As for the the seatbelt portion, I simply removed the female ends from my OEM bucket seats (you need a large torx bit) and drilled out the exisiting hole in the Explorer seats to get them mounted in with some high grade stainless bolts and stainless nylon lock nuts. This is a point where you should spare no expense and get the good bolts and hardware. You don't want to get into a wreck and have the bolts hodling your seatbelt break on you. Overkill is best when it comes to safety. Besides that, it simply is just removing the old and replacing with the new although you will have to open up the front mounting holes on the seat track to match the larger Ranger seat mounting bolts. Good luck, you will love them.
