Painting Dynamat

Anyone know if this can be done? I was thinking about lining my floor in Dynamat to shield the heat and noise from the 5.4l. Problem is I want to coat it in bedliner too. Anyone think I can add the dynamat then spray the dynamat? Will it hold? Last?

I've seen it used on TRUCKS when they were doing the 79 Crew Cab. They did it on a primer floor, no reason why you couldn't just scuff the floor and lay it on

is it much different than linex? i can get it linexed for the price of materials. Neighbor runs a shop. so maybe I should just do that and forget the dynamat.

If you can get line-x for cost of materials, I'd probably go that route. Dynamat won't help too much with making the engine noise less, that's more of the job of closed cell foam.

as far as painting dynamat goes, i don't think it'd stick.

Line-x is the way to go. Dyna mat gets expensive real fast and doesn't work too well IMO.

IMO and no experience with DynaMat but the top layer is not a good base for paint of any kind; shiny smooth aluminum.

Downey’s idea of spraying on a deadener is the best thing, there are others though like Fat Mat; $80/gal shipped.
You can spray it with a 30/1 mix so it gets in all the little spaces, or brush it on. it is water proof if applied with good prep.
FatMat dries black, might be good enough if that is the color you want.
