Took out my carpet

Well my carpet has been wet for some reason for a long time from just sitting in the drive way while im at school and it was turning color and stinking a little. So i decided it was time for it to come out. After having a few problems with rusty screws and bolts i got all of the stuff up off the carpet and tore it out. The padding under the carpet was black and smelt awful. And the other stuff that is stuck to the floor was wet and cracking. now i just have to figure out where the water is coming from.

Check your window seals, third brake light seal, heater core, door seals, etc. The third brake light seal is actually a pretty common failure. The stuf that's shipping is likely the stock sound deadener. Take a hammer to it, it'll split up in pieces.

You aughta just toss that carpet and jute in the garbage. Hit up LMCtruck.com or StockInteriors.com for a replacement once you find where the leak is coming from.

i think that it is only coming from the passenger side since that is the only side that is wet and somewhere in the front but not sure. it will be atleast a few weeks before im back home to do anything to it. Some of the stuff i could just pic off with my fingers and some of it was tareing when i was blowing it out with the air hose so ill probably try to bust it all out. I dont think im going to put carpet back in it since its not a DD and sees quite a bit of dirt. I might do the famous ruberized interior :)

My entire floor under my carpet (well rubber pad in my case) is all wet. It's just because winter just got over. It will dry out after a few nice days.

The jute under my vinyl floor took damn near two weeks to fully dry out from winter last year. The the unfortunate thing about vinyl......it doesn't allow the jute to breath.

Carpet hold-downs and/or door sills? lol. Junkyard is best bet.

check your front passenger side body mount rubber plug

water is probably seeping between the plug and body metal

i used white grease to seal every rubber plug i could find
( it also helps to keep moisture in the rubber and prevent it deteriorating )

Well after it sitting out side in the rain for the last few days there is water in the cab again but i busted the sound reducer off the floor and it rained again and i think it is running from the corner of the window down the inside of the door jam and onto the floor. I dont know if you can see it in the pics but there is a water trail down the padding or what ever it is that goes down the door jam. There is also discoloration in the bottom corner of the window. Is there a way to fix this?

What does it smell like, antifreeze maybe… passenger side, heat on right side.
As FX4 Wannabe suggested, check out the heater just in case...

im almost positive you have some corrosion under the door seals on the angled uppper part of it
mine is like that too and i get the water in the same location. pull the seal out a bit on the angled part along the windshield and check for corrosion

My ’88 had a leak by the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side, RUST, had to have a new windshield put in and checked it out.
Filled the area with Windshield sealant, put the trim back on and it stopped leaking.
Sold it about two years later and no leaks, The windshield lower edge can be a big problem.
