05 Bench seat arm rest problem

Does anyone of a problem with the door thing on the arm rest of there 60/40 center arm rest door, when ever I open it it always goes up and then causes the whole arm rest to flip back and dumps everything out, so I wanted to know if theres a way to fix this because when ever I open it I always seem to have to hold it down so it doesnt fall back when its open.

my only guess is the 2 screws that hold it on maybe loose.

or...you could just put more **** in the console to hold it down.

Never heard of this one. Usually it's the lid is braken somehow.

The problem with putting more stuff in the console is when you open it, it's just more to come flying out. Lol

Lol that's a problem when you don't have map pockets, or something to hold anything by the shifter. The only storage place I have is either the glove compartment and thats crammed with insurance and such and my cup holders! I have 1 designated for spare change and 1 for my Blackberry!

Get a reg cab, then there won't be enough room for the lid to go all the way back!

if it is the one that opens to the side, pull the felt pad from the bottom of the console on each of the 4 corners and remove the screws. That will take the interior bottom out and expose the screws that hold the hinge and lid on there.

My whole lid was destroyed by the past owner, so I just removed the lid all together.

I was thinking about going to pick up 2 bucket seats as well as an Explorer center console but the problem is I usually put 2 other people in the front rather then have 1 in the front and 1 in the back, also I don't like the look of the FX4 center consoles so I'd only get an Explorer one but I have a manual transmission and I think it looks kinda cheap and "non oem" having the shifter coming threw the center console.
