so ive been doing some reasearch and i want to make sure i know every thing before i start sice i have to do all the work at my storage unit.

my plan is to install explorer seat and full length console in place of my 60/40 seats. this is what i got so far

for the seats
i have to enlarge 3 holes but i dont know which or how much. i have to change over the seat belt. i read something about drilling a hole and bolting it on. then just wiring it up.

for the console i know the front bolts to the spot by the air bag switch. and i need some self tapping screws lol thats about it.

let me know any thing that would help. Im trying to make sure i have every thing so i dont have to try and drive with no seats lol

 

Are you sure you have to enlarge the holes for the seat mounts? I thought they fit without modification?

 

some people have had to enlarge 1 hole i think. but it's minor. as for the seat belt, there was a nice how to on rps. with their search not workin, it may be hard to find. basically, on the inside of the explorer seat (towards console) on the bottom pan, there are some extra holes. unhook the cover and you should be able to see them. drill one out a little larger so the bolt goes through, and some guys have cut a little slot for the tab on the seat belt. i think you will understand when you see it. then just run the bolt through and put a nut on the inside.

 

ok sweet ill check that out when i get the seats. any one have any idea on the console i saw he how 2 but i dont know what size self tappers to get or if the 60/40 seats have a spot to bolt the console down in the back

 

For the seats, I'd enlarge every hole to the correct size, It makes it much easier and you won't have problems bolting it down. The bolts that hold the Ranger seats down are larger than the holes on the explorer seats so just enlarge them to the size of bolt you take off of your stock seats and you'll be good to bolt them down. Wiring is two wires per seat. A black and a blue wire. I connected the power wires into 1 and then ran it through the firewall with a 30 amp inline fuse. Ground is directly on the seat track itself bolted to the floor

For the seatbelt, completely ditch the way they're mounted the seat once you get them.
here is what I did, I found it on a website but I can't find it now but these are my seats.

Enlarge that 2nd hole, as u can see the metal shavings under it. Then go to the hardware store and find an appropriate bolt, washers and nut for it.

 

This is all good info, but seeing your truck is an 04 you will have the seat belt tensioner that is part of your SRS system. This isn't a problem but depending on how tall or wide you are your best bet is to use the rear most hole in the seat for mounting your seatbelt.
You can drill out the hole and use a bolt and nut to hold in in or drill it out and use a 10mm x 1.25 tap and just bolt in in. You have options on how to locate the tang on the back side of the seatbelt tensioner, you can drill two 3/16" holes next to each other and slot between or just bend the tang straight. I have found if you put a washer between the seatbelt tensioner and the seat frame when you mount it it will sit flat and the fit is better.

If you look just to the right and a little below the bolt you can see how the seat frame is slotted for the tang to sit into.

 

sweet good info and if i tap the holw am i useing the explorer bolt or the ranger one? and for the console any one have an idea what lenght self tapping screws i need? Also any one know what size i need to drill the holes to so i can do it in advance?

To be honest I don't remember which bolt I used, I went with the tap I had that was handy.

10 x 1.25 tap uses a 8.8 mm drill bit.
8.8 mm is 0.346" closest standard drill is 11/32" or 0.344".
Take the bolt off your seatbelt and measure it. You can go to most any hardware or big-box home store (Lowe's, Home depot) and match it up with a nut thread cards that they have in the nut and bolt section.
For the self-tapping screws I would look underneath the truck first and make sure there are no fuel lines or electrical wiring in the way and then use the shortest that will fit. You will need to consider things like carpet, padding thickness of the console etc. but I would assume 1/2" to 3/4" would do fine.
