Well, I finally broke down and bought an iPod. The fact that I've been using iTunes for awhile and burning my cd's then ripping back to mp3's was just getting tiresome, and I like the idea of having ALL of my music with me ALL of the time.

So I picked up a cheap iTrip (FM Transmitter) to see if I used it alot in the truck before buying a new head unit. So now I have an Alpine CDA-9857 with iPod cable. I'm dismantling my truck this weekend for some painting (mostly redoing some interior pieces, as well as color matching the door handles and side mirrors to my black edge since I hate black plastic) so I'm trying to devise a way of hooking up a dock for my iPod to keep it outta the way (all of the controls are transfered to the head unit, so I want something easily accessible but it doesn't have to be in visual range)
I was maybe going to mount a plate to the tray where the ashtray usually goes next to the airbag switch. Something so it extends out so I can mount a universal dock or something to it and dock the ipod that way.
Anyone done this yet? Somebody has to have an idea.

 

ive been in the process of developing somthn for my gigabeat.."toshiba" but yea im trying to make some kind of dock for audio and charging

I just got a black 30GB one and I'm wandering the same thing...lol so far I'm using the monster cable and ran it thru carpet to my centerconsole in floor and it sits there for now, wish I could have it higher up...
