Icon5 Any way to get passenger seat more forward?

I have an 85 pound dog that prefers to be in the cab. He fits fine in the super cab but if I could modify the passenger seat to slide up more and or have the back tilt more forward he would def appreciate it from back there.

Any ideas?

the only thing i could think of is to remove the seat from the tracks and move the tracks forward but then you have to drill new holes.

If you use some steel bar ¼” x 2 you could add some to the Track/floor mounting as extensions but It may not sit flat with the floor contours.
The front/floor mounting would need some support under the extension.

More time consuming than hard but a lot of work.

Let’s see a pic of the DOG in the back of the cab.

are you saying add a steel bottom to the front part of the U track? just to allow the front part of the seat pegs to travel on it?

I am saying extend the rear tab and make an extended support for the front tabs.
Front tabs will be the hard part.
Just thinking out loud never done it before.

lol my dog is the equivalent of wearing a pink shirt. im ok with it, but hes far from 'man enough' to withstand riding in the bed :) lol hes a big whimp. He gets in the cab just fine, but some extra room by having the passenger seat up more would give him a little extra space, as well as loading gear into and out of the back part of the cab

hes 85 pounds but im willing to bet at least 10 pounds is fur :)

well, i tested out an idea and failed....
I removed the seat, drilled out the forward "stop peg" on one of the rails... it made zero difference. the rail stopped in the same location but instead of hitting the peg it just hit one of the 'stays' anchoring the track bearings... a real bummer cause it was easy to do, i thought i was gonna score an easy 4 inches.

replaced the peg with a bolt, everything is back together.

didnt touch the opposite seat track thankfully.

the seat on my 98 4 door explorer used to slide WAY forward.
maybe theres a seat with further forward movement that i can swap in since i just need it on side. the seat anchor is so simple theres got to be a away to do this...

If the explorer seats slide farther forward, replace your seats with explorer seats, problem solved

To get the seat as far forward as you are thinking you will need to mod the floor mounting locations for the tracks.
I know PITA but the best way.
The back floor mounts will be easy, just use thick enough metal to take the abuse.
The front mounts can be made from ¼” Plate bend at the same angle as the mount.
A lip on the forward section to mount to the floor will be needed the rear portion is almost flat with hole to mount.

This sound like a pita, yes, but think about it, not much of any other way to keep the OEM tracks and have the seat more forward.

Allow for the folding of the seat at the dash before deciding on the size of the mounts.

Just me thinking out loud AGAIN !
Good Luck.

p.s. Let the DOG ride in the front and passengers in the back, problem solved.
