Latest Truckin' issue
Has a red '02 Ranger that had been lowered.
Sweet truck. Noticed he used Dodge Neon buckets for the seats. Question is...do you use brackets from Ranger seats and weld/fit them to another type of seat so it would fit? Or is it a whole new bracket assembly? I'd love the idea of bucket seats in my '05, there's lots of wreckers around that I could get some seats from an older Neon, f-150, sunfire, cav, etc,etc.... hopefully cheap too. Anyone here tried to use other seats? Any success? Post pics if you have done it. I'd really like to see the finished product. |
make your stockers buckets, very common mod. search 40/40 conversin, or 60/40 conversion. Ive done it, and love it.

ive done it too.i also like it

ha
well, your stock seat belts have a seltbelt sensor that ties in with your airbag system (im sure someone else can go into more detail) and the seat belts are attached to the seat frame, and your seats are built with the frame in them (they dont just sit on top of the seat frame, the frame goes up in the seat) Accouple options, Custom seat tracks, custom brackets that attach to your tracks and attach the new seats, Older seat tracks with the belt bracket welded on (i did this) or just get ranger buckets I myself have 93/94 ranger seat tracks (no belt attached) and i cut off where the stock belt attaches on my 01 seats and welded it on to the new tracks and bolted some 98/99 mustang buckets in my truck my buddy did the same with his 99 however didnt install stock seat belts, so he has that airbag light on let me know if that makes sense |
It shouldn't be too hard to keep the stock seatbelts you would think?
Any custom int place should be able to do this. |
I have custom brackets with APC race buckets and I am still using the stock seatbelt assemblies. Have brackets that bolt to the floor and hold the latch for the seatbelts. I won't have them for long though :) My beltbar is sitting in my garage with my harnesses :)

I actually KEPT the stock seat frames and made adapter plates to hook the Sparcos to them ( along with 4pt harnesses ). The factory seatbelt receivers ( or whatever they are called ) need to be in the vehical in order for the airbags to deploy if an impact occures ( Yeah, I found out about it :( ). The Receivers are used for the pyro that sets off the bags somehow... or it activates the triggers? Can;t remember all the details, Mine are just under the seats hooked up/rigged to make the system feel the seatbelts are always on/closed.

How did you mount your harnesses? I have been fabbing a belt bar, but don't like how it is going, interested in other ideas out there.
|
The stock seatbelt receivers have the pyro pretensioners built in and in turn are connected to the airbag system. They unbolt from the stock seats with one large bolt. I scavanged some seat tracks from an older Ranger at the wreckers and like D. made adapter plates to bolt Sparco type seats to the tracks. The rear inboard adapter also serves to mount the stock seatbelt receivers in the original position using the original bolt (with a nut and washer). Works perfect. Even though the receiver mounts on the outside of the seat, it is hidden from view by the Explorer console. Good luck.

I get both Truckin' and Mini Truckin' every month. And that truck is a center fold from last month. The center fold makes the mini truckin' part of Truckin' a month later everytime. The lastest issue of Truckin' has the neatest truck in the world HEROES. South-West Ohio native truck...

That truck is pretty damn awesome, man. I love everything except the MTX...lol.

|
first is a comparison of a 94 seat and a 01 seat
second is my mustang buckets (old ones, now have black) third is the 93/94 reg cab seat track i welded the stock seat belt too, then used those tracks to attach my mustang buckets |
