Fire extinguisher mount

I recently installed a fire extinguisher in the interior of my Supercab. It fits perfectly in the jack cover with the juicebox/cupholder insert removed. The mount that came with the extinguisher was screwed to the rear interior panel. Kidde 10-B:C, Item# 466141, Model# KG PLUS/FA 10G.

The Mag-Lite mounts using a single Mag-Lite clip near the top with a strip of heavy duty Velcro cushioning the bottom of the cupholder.

Mag-Lite sells the mounts separately. I got mine at a local discount store that also sells Mag-Lites. Lots of places sell them online, too.

Having just recently seen a Ranger burnt to the ground on the forums (and a local, too, I haven't met yet) I was thinking a small extinguisher wouldn't be a terrible idea, but space is already at a severe premium in my standardcab, and I wouldn't want to mount it anywhere gaudy (or anywhere about shoulder-level where it could become a projectile in an accident.) Any ideas? At it is, my maglite's permanent home is jambed underneath the passenger side of the split bench/console "jump seat." I suppose I could get one of those narrow "ricer" ones and mount it to the passenger side of the tranny tunnel.

Could go with a remote mounted central extinguishing system :) Pull the lever and the truck is covered in a cloud of fire extinguisher smoke lol

Looks good Bob. Would you believe I bought a Mag-light mount as one of my first intended mods.. The mount is still at the bottom of the milk-crate-o-junk behind the driver's seat in the truck. I've yet to mount it in three years!

Lazyness is a beyotch sometimes..

Hmm... I'm thinking I'll put up a How To (this one is priority though..lol..) on mounting extinguishers. I have mine where one of the jump seats used to be. Its a little bigger than yours, but not much, next size up probably.

im going to get one eventually, especially after seeing a car dripping flames onto the road, it seemed like a good idea. for standar cab you could put it on the frame one the right of the windshield, as long as it was small enough, i've seen a lot of cars with that setup

Yeah, the one in my pics was about $9.50, on sale from $15. Worth its weight in gold when you need one.

In addition to potentially restricting visibility, the potential for a pillar mount to become a projectile at head-level is too great for my comfort. I've heard a few EMT stories of treating concussions in what would otherwise have been a walk-away accident because someone's fire extinguisher hit them in the head. Mostly ricers keep it there anyway, and I prefer to keep my interior factory-esque.

I have spoken with a couple of tow truck companies that bring their trucks to our shop and they know of at least 30 other cases of rangers burning to the ground. Several of them 01-05 models. Makes you think doesn't it!

Wow. I've never heard of this stuff happening, makes me kinda nervous to because we got tall grass in some of the places I go that I usually drive through! This may be a must when I go back home! And if some one tells me I'm retarded to have a fire extinguisher in my cupholder, I'll just remind them they said that when their car catches fire!
