Mountaineer Center Console, Edge floor, Trip Computer

As a side project to the 5.0L swap, I've been doing some interior work. First to go in was the floor shifter for the F150 manual transfer case. Since the interior was already gutted, this was a good time to swap in the Edge floor too.

This center console came from a junked 97 Mountaineer. It has been repainted satin black to match the rest of the interior. The armrest/lid is in the process of being repaired and will soon be recovered in black Naugahyde.

The lower driver side of the console was heated and reshaped to clear the shifter boot and bezel.

This is the Explorer/Mountaineer trip computer and systems monitor which Ford calls the "Message Center". I got it from Frank (Pastfinder) who stripped it from an Explorer console. This won't work on a stock Ranger because Ranger PCMs don't have a fuel flowrate output for the trip computer functions. Now that I'm installing the Explorer engine and PCM, I should be able to make it work in my truck.

Funny thing Bob is that I have never come across another trip computer in all my JY travels. I'm glad it's finally getting used :)

Amazing. Ford should higher you to design the new Ranger. I bet it would be the best selling yet. Although it might cost 50grand new.

That looks great, it makes me slightly jealous of your automatic... the V8 swap does the rest.

He was HIRED by and worked for Ford for a period of 10 years, to the best of my knowledge.

I had never even seen an Ex Message Center before. I'm also glad to see that one has ended up in Bob's hands.

Interesting, quality work as always Bob.

Thanks for all of the positive comments!

Tonight, I finished repairing the broken console lid, then recovered it with black Naugahyde to match the newly painted console.

Propane torch from a safe distance. Obviously, you have go slow and easy with it or it will melt into a blob...

Bob do you have all of the wiring harnesses for that message center? I have everything with no cuts, if you are interested.
