Trans Temp Guage
welp i went to Jegs and got the trans temp guage, green light covers and a single pod guage pod (which had to be ordered, should be here Wednesday)
so if someone could point me to a write up on how to install the trans temp guage that would be great, and in return i will post lots of pictures... :-)

i am just thinking about how i wired it up... anyhow the destructions say you need a Engine Ground, Tempsender, Ignition switch 12v(+) and here is how i have it wired up...
i tapped in to the cig. lighter for 12v and i also tapped in to the ground for it too... and the temp sender thats a no brainer.. does that sound like it should work..lol ( i alwas doubt myself first on things like this..lol)

Bob will have to let you know if that is defiently ok. There probably better ways to wire it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I wired my hot side into a 20 amp, switched circuit on the fuse block (don't remember which one off the top of my head), negative went to the grounding stud behind the driver's kick panel, and lights went to the dimmer switch.

yep it works perfect... havent really drove anywhere far at highway speends yet... but through the backroads (45-60mph) and around city, stop and go its about 125-140
whats a nomal operating temp? and whats considered overheating, and whats like a "yellow" area as in better lghten the load or something befor you F something up.....

There's a chart somewhere that breaks down the temp vs fluid effects. I'll look for it. It's my understanding you want the temp in the 150-170 range, over 200 is bad. BUT, that depends a lot where you have the sensor mounted.
It looks like your sensor is the same place I put mine. My tranny typically runs 170-180. It has ocassionally hit 200 in very hot weather with stop & go traffic. I'll probably put a larger cooler on it this summer, but I want to rig a "bypass" for winter. Mine rarely gets off 120 during the winter, and I figure a bigger a cooler will hurt me during the winter. So if I bypass it (and just use the rad cooler), hopefully that will keep the temps up during the winter.
Another thought was maybe a small "pusher" fan mounted on the tranny cooler that I could manually activate when the temps rose.
The higher the temps, the more you should change the fluid.

if you want it to read hotter go out and beat the livin **** out of it. accelerate hard, over and over agian. that will get it hot. ive had mine to 150 i nthe cold weather. but i havnt pulled my trailer since i got the guage installed. hard city driving i get to about 150* no hotter.
