Mounting a Explorer Center Console Questions

I have a few questions on how you mounted the brackets and any other modifications needed to swap consoles.

1. Do you have to take out the ash tray and the air bag on/off switch to mount the front bracket?

2.Do you use the nails in the front bracket or just cut them off?

If anyone has pics of the brackets mounted that would be helpful....Thanks

Yes ash tray and switch have to move, I took the switch out and just pushed it up in the dash.

Those little nail things go in 2 holes where that bracket that holds the ash tray on, you'll see it once you get the other stuff on. Then 2 bolts go in to the dash there too, you should have grabbed those at the junk yard. Then I ran 2 self tapping screws into the floor through the middle bracket.

Ya I got all the bolts I took out at the JY....I thought you might have to remove the ash tray and the airbag switch....thanks Trent

Got the front bracket mounted. Do you have to grind off the studs for the stock console? When figuring out where to mount the rear bracket the best way I can think of is to put the console in there, mount it to the front bracket then mark your holes for the screws.

I don't think people normally use the rear bracket, I didn't. What studs are you talking about?

If the explore console bracket is like the ranger short console or ranger full length console.

The truck has a spot where the bracket goes. they either drill them out to put in the bracket or leave them for ones that don't get the console.

I did all that the same, but I used four screws instead of two. I ran to Home Depot and grabbed two 90* metal brackets and attached them to the bottom of the console and the drilled through the floor.

these studs are in the way of mounting the rear bracket so I guess they have to go.

The stock bracket is on the right and the Explorer bracket is on the left..

O you had the console I was talking about.

See I didn't have those studs so I had to drill holes and bolt mine down.

looks like those studs have to go bye bye.
