mountaineer seats
I've searched, so don't tell me search is my friend. my results to my search aren't as descriptive as I'd like.
I found a 97 mountaineer with leather seats that are in good condition.. will they bolt in with their original tracks? I seen that I might need to make the one bolt hole bigger, which isn't a problem. but what else might I run into?
also, I found a pair of leathers from a 95 explorer, with one simple little tear. 100$. but they have mustang tracks mounted on them, so what would need to be done?
what would be my best bet? I'm waiting on a price for the 97 mounty seats, which I'll edit when I get the price.
advice, pictures, etc.
once again, I've searched about the mounty seats, and I'm still not 100% aware, hence the reason I'm asking.

yep they will fit, when yu power them you can splice into the wiring below the seats, or do what i did later, i ended up running wires under carpet through firewall to the battery with a 25amp fuse between. let us know when install is done and post pics.
p.s the other thing i did was get my seats redone at a shop, i got the color seats i wanted and they look so good.

Zak, I just put electric Explorer seats in my truck last weekend, I think they were out of a 98 so they shouldn't be any different then the mountaineer seats.
The front inside bolt hole (closest to center console) had to be enlarged used a die grinder and opened them up maybe an 1/8".
My truck has the SRS seatbelt tensioner it was simple to remove from the Ranger seat and tap the hole in the Explorer/Mountaineer seat to 10 mm x1.25 thread and with a drill drilled two holes and then removed the excess in the middle to make a slot to fit the locating tang on the ranger seatbelt tensioner.
They're two holes on the seats that can be tapped out I used the one closes to the rear and with a washer for a spacer between the tensioner and seat frame seems to put the Ranger seatbelt in the right place.
Here is a picture, Going this way didn't need to deal with any wiring issues, to power the seats I ran power from my distribution block for my amps which is where the old jump seats were.
Wiring is pretty straight forward black is ground white and black is power I am running a 20 amp fuse for the two. When I find a center console I'll run wiring up to the fuse block and use a spare slot for each with a 10 amp fuse.
God luck, this is really an easy upgrade and makes the truck a lot more comfortable on long trips with all the adjustments you have with these seats.

thanks for all the info ted! really appreciate it. so is the tensioner necessary? I mean, I know it serves a purpose, but what if you wouldnt have changed that?
& btw, your seats look badass.. wouldn't mind cloth, if I could find some. leather w/o air isn't a good idea.. and that fire extinguisher adds a nice touch to the box :P hahha. your truck overall inside looks cool.

I tapped and bolted it, you could use a 3/8" bolt and nut if you don't have the ability or tools to tap the hole, I used what I had handy the original seat belt bolts are a 12 mm x 1.0 thread. It would have been nice to keep the original bolts but a regular grade 8 or 5 bolt with a nut and lock washer would work just fine. It sits out of the way and stays tight to the seats for when I get a console, and hooks up to the original wiring because it came off the Ranger seats.
To use the seat belt system from the Explorer I would have had to cut and adapted the wires and extended the Explorer seat belt slider bracket. It seem easier to use what fit the truck instead of modifying the Explorer system.
