OHC temp sensor

I searched and came up empty.

I got the OHC and wireing harness on Saturday from an Explorer the thing is that the Ex was in a bad accident and the temp sensor if it was even there was prolly destroyed I looked but found nothing.

Where do I get one so I can install my OHC?

Now that I have it sitting in my truck I want it to be done now.

I can't personally guarantee this but here is the sensor part number that was posted on GE awhile back:

F87Z-12A647-AA

You will also need to the connector pigtail which has the base part number of 14S411. A Ford dealer counter person should be able to look up the complete number for a repair connector.

The cheapest and easiest way would be to get both from a 96~2001 junkyard Explorer. Just be aware that high-end Explorers (Eddie Bauer or Limited for example) often have two ambient temp sensors up front - one for the EATC climate control and one for the overhead console and they are NOT the same. If you try to use an EATC sensor on an overhead console, the temp readout will be WAY off.

You can identify the correct one for the console by verifying that the color codes are blue/white and blue/yellow.

The picture below shows two styles of overhead console sensors that are from different year Explorers. Notice that they have the correct color codes on the connector pigtail. They are electrically interchangeable and either would work equally well on your 2000 console.

hey bob, any idea on what the color code for the EATC temp sensor is?

I've got a temp sensor with a blue/orange and blue/yellow. Im guessing that is the EATC one.

The 2001-back Explorer EATC temp sensor is pink/black and red/orange. Whatever that is, it probably didn't come from a 95~2001 Explorer.
