I'm going to paint the piece around the radio when i get more time. I painted the drive side door handle too so don't ask why i don't have a pic of that lol I must of just forgot to take one

rangerboy101 07-28-2009 07:33 AM

Looks good. Not sure if im a big fan of the cupholders though.

1999Ranger 07-28-2009 07:36 AM

yeah I thought the same thing after I did it but it looks better in person or if theres stuff in it lol

cmc474 07-28-2009 11:38 AM

I have to agree I don't like the cup holders, if I were you I would of done the doors, center bezel and OHC if you have one.

Smakes 07-28-2009 11:40 AM

you should paint the bezel, i painted my cup holder too but it wasnt that bright lol

Looking good man, just put a McDonald's cup or a brew in the cup holder next time! And it would look A+ :D

1999Ranger 07-28-2009 11:44 AM

I have a center console but I can't paint that. I am going to paint the part (not sure of the correct name) around the CD player, outlet and air controls when i get a chance

cmc474 07-28-2009 11:55 AM

It's called an Over Head Console, there from Explorers. Here is a picture of Mykhaels (STL).

oh no I don't have one of those but I've been thinking about getting one. Is it difficult to install and wire up?

cmc474 07-28-2009 12:09 PM

I haven't put one in yet but I am thinking about it soon, since lots of people have done it it seems really easy the only hard part I'd think is you have to cut a hole in your head liner so that is kinda sketchy but since so many people have done them they cant be hard.

1999Ranger 07-28-2009 12:21 PM

Right thats what i was thinking. Thats a good How-To also. I'll probably run down to the local junk yard and see if they have any

cmc474 07-28-2009 02:38 PM

Also remember you need part of the wiring harness and temp sensor, some people think you just need the console it's self and the bracket but you need those to make it work to.

1999Ranger 07-28-2009 02:46 PM

yeah I know thanks

Jp7 07-28-2009 03:09 PM

Is that body match paint?

Nice job.

RangerNDog 07-28-2009 03:33 PM

Not a big fan of the cup holders. But the doors look good.

As far as installing an OHC, the hardest thing is cutting the headliner. Start out small and then work your way out bigger. Wiring is cake.

1999Ranger 07-28-2009 05:48 PM

The paint isn't exactly the same as the body but its fairly close. Close enough it's hard to tell. Thanks for the input guys

rangerhell93 07-28-2009 10:05 PM

how hard is it to take off the door handles and all that?

billet03 07-28-2009 10:18 PM

^^ just two screws under the door handle^^ and pry a little once the screws are removed.

Should have used Duplicolor Metalcast. Not really a fan of the gloss red or the cupholder.

yeah its not hard at all to take the door handles off. Only hard part is getting the switches out and thats not even all that difficult
