Quick OHC question (not the usual)

When i got my OHC out of the '98 explorer, it didnt have any light bulbs in the light dome of it.

What kinda bulbs do these OHC's take?
Pictures of one?

Anything with a 194 style wedge base will work. I have some white LEDs in mine.

Looks to me like you are not only missing the bulbs but the bases and the electrical contact going up the middle to the bulbs. Here are some pics of what it's supposed to look like:

The power and ground for the bulbs comes from that little strip that goes doen the middle and then to the bulb base.

Yup. The bulbs go into the grey bases and then the bases twist lock into place making electrial contact with the copper colored metal strip around the base. I don't know what you mean about looking different, they are all the same. Might just be different lighting in the pics.

Hmmm..thats weird. I dunno what the deal is with that. I have 4 of them sitting here right now from various years and I checked them all and they are the same. And the one in my truck is the same too.

Mine came from a 98 exp.

Mine have like a flashlight type metal bracket up in the very top of the reflective dome where it looks like the positive and negative are. So mine looks like it would take some sort of flashlight style bulb...I'll go see if i can get a good picture of what im talking about.

CLICK HERE to get the full size image.

This is about the best i could do for a picture to get a shot of the inside of it.

And I agree with the above state that mine looks different than yours Kelly.

I've pulled probably 50 or more from various year Explorers including '98s and have never seen one like that. Strange...I wonder if someone had modified it at some time?

Whoa, that's way different. There's no way the traces were supposed to be on top, look closely at the sidewalls and the hole that the ribbon disappears into isn't even there.

Perhaps the whole reflector assembly comes out and the bulb goes in from behind?

Yes, there are two different style bulb assemblies. That's why there's two listings. The twist lock with the wedge in it is more common.
