Anyone have any advice to removing the door panels from the rear doors? Can I get the seat belt off of them?

I just want to run the seat belt and no panels for a while.

Also does anyone have the part number for the push pins on the back wall that hold the plastic up? I want the part number of the black push pins on the FX4 Level 2.

 

grip it and rip it..nothin but clips hold it in..

 

then buy new clips? Ive already broke 6+ lol and that was not even the doors yet

 

i popped mine off no problem and got them back in without any problems..

white clips? they slide in the panel and push in the hole on the door?

I'd pick up new clips just for good measure. My passenger side 4th door slightly rattles now from when I pulled mine and I didn't damage the clips too bad, if at all. Funny thing is that I removed it in the first place becayse of a rattle. I thought something had vibrated free. Turned out it was a spare clip inside the door. It's brand new looking, no wear, and I can't find where it goes if it did in deed even have a home. Unfortuantely I haven't been able to locate aftermarket versions of the clip that'll work so I guess it's ford dealer time.

 

that is what i am afraid of. dealer took mine off before because I blew a speaker under warranty they broke the door panel, so mine already does not mount correctly. :(

At least they didn't break the plastic clip ring that your imaginary FX4 LII shift boot attaches to allowing it to clip onto the shift bezel like they did for me. My leather shift boot buzzes like crazy and it drives me nuts. I'm getting to the point of setting out on a mission from god to stop the buzz!

 

I have pulled off my door panels in the back probably 4 times or so when I was changing out speakers, then when I cut the holes and installed the 6x9's. After all of that, my clips are still fine. I just used a looong screw driver and pried up in the areas where it felt tight. You may bend some of the inserts, but it should go back fine. As for the seat belt, you only have to take off the top part, leave the belt in the plastic door panel and let it hang down. It is easy to take off, and you can't really screw it up if you have even the slightest bit of mechanical skills.

 

Just go to the parts store and get a Ford interioir trim panel tool. I got mine at advance auto for like $7. It looks like a screwdriver with a bent fork at the end.

Oh, I gotcha... you may want to make a day out of it then. The belt has enough slack so that you should be able to pull the panel off with the seat belt still attached, and pop it on a table. Paint one half, after it dries, move the belt over and paint the other side. This way you don't have to remove too much and there is less risk of ruining the restraint system.

Of course there is... but I don't think you'd want to use a cutting torch.

 

I just pulled mine out. Granted I RIPPED them out and threw them away, but it was easy with the saw zall and screw driver....

 

I bought one of those tools and it makes life much easier. The rear door panels are a PITA to get off still. I manged to pull mine off and put back in without breaking any clips when I changed speakers.

 

You have a 4 door right Zach? Your best bet is to just go slowly and methodically. I started towards the bottom on mine and tried pushing up, then slowly worked my way around looking inside to see what clips where holding me up. You probably won't get them out without really busting a few up, but that's not such a big deal. If I remember right, the black plugs from the Ford dealer cost like 8 bucks a piece or something absurd like that. I got some from autozone that don't really match but I put them in places that are hidden, like behind my sub box.

 

Well i was going to do it tonight but didnt get to it. I have my speakers but I decided I was not going to install them until I get some Edead or Dynamat... Not to mention I need to paint them black.

Trying to do all of it in just a few days... ha.

 

just pull ha... it sounds like your breaking things but your not, just some of the pins maybe and you dont need all of them to put the panels back on... im probably missing 5 per door and its still holding fine

and wear some gloves if you can, i slit all down my fingers the first time because my hand slide down the back edge of the pannel

 

yeah but on the interior stuff I want it on right and complete, the better looking, the less rattles the better!
