re:ford ranger 2002 edge

I have bought a Ford Ranger edge 2002.
They had I think an after market power window unit installed.

Would like to switch over to power lock and power window mirror(do have the power mirror installed already)

Question.
Like to installed the ford power button unit to the panel bazel .
Do I have to change the panel bazel or I can cut in the old one to install it?

What about the wiring diagrahm?

Does all Ranger comes with all cables already in the door or maybe somewhere in the dish?

Would very much like an explanation of this , maybe also an illustration.

Thanking you in advance for your help

Bob

First off I do not know but I have read on the site that the power mirrors only need power and ground so that should be an easy wiring job.
Locks can’t be need more than that either.
Do the switches fit, the easiest way to determine this is tear the door apart and see what indents are on the underside of the area you want to put the switch in. If there are indents which I would guess No, but if there cut through.
An OEM Mirror Switch is cheap money from one of the OEM Parts sellers on the Web but the JY should have tons of them.
I am going to a JY next week that I know have a bunch switches, I can check on price if you want.

p.s. If this was me I would look into changing the section of the door panel that has all of the switches, quicker than cutting up the existing parts.
On the other hand, you might want to take a piece of metal, diamond plate or just plain old alum, and shape it to fit the area in question and then cut in the switches; make a matching piece for the passenger side.

re:ford ranger edge 2002 power

Hi Scrambler 82

As you wrote I would like to change the door panel bezel with another one with the original switches (window-mirror-lock).

I think this is better also, but I do not know if this Ranger although initially it had anything powered does has wiring already for these features.

I hope you understand my concerns.

Maybe I can get the panels bezel in EBAY(used).

Thanks for your reaction.

My Ranger doesn't have power anything so I can't confirm but that doesn't sound right. You would need extra wires to send the signal to go left, right, up, and down. I remember when I was working on the power mirrors on my camaro it was about 8 wires or so to run the whole setup. I wish it was a simple thing to do as I'd add power windows, locks, and mirrors to my truck.

Replacement Door Panels are the best bet, the complete panel and use the OEM Switches.
I have found a lot of Explorer all power panels but the Ranger appear to be less available.

By stating “only needs the power and ground” that means those are the only added wires.
For the Mirrors there will be wires from the switch to the driver’s and the passenger’s mirrors, three between the switch and each mirror I think, and for the windows I would have to believe there will be wires but how many I am not sure.

I will be doing the complete door panel replacement when I can find some along with all of the power stuff, what wires are already in the harness I do not know but if we keep talking about it I am sure one of the more knowledgeable members will come in.

The number of wires and the amount of rewiring that I have posted here is only from reading other similar posts, so read and read some more to get a handle on it.
there are other Ranger Sites out there too, check all of them out.
