Rear window
No. At some point Ford changed the amount of bolts holding in the rear window, but I can't remember when it was and whether older windows can be used in the newer trucks or if it's the other way around where newer windows can't fit the older trucks.
It's best to stick with a year closest to yours for compatibility.

Extended cab rear windows are interchangeable from 1986 thru 2011
And 1998 thru 2011 Regular cabs
They are the same style of bolt in rear windows
As Fordzilla80 said in mid/late-2000's Ford add more studs to these bolt in window frames, but original studs are in the same place so interchangeable, and if adding a newer window to older Ranger then very easy to drill a couple a new holes in the cab lip to mount them
Regular cab 1983 thru 1997 are interchangeable and use a gasket to hold them in place, so not interchangeable in any extended cab or regular cab 1998 and up
This all applies to regular or slider type rear windows

Tacking onto this as I'm not sure ive got it right.
I snagged a rear window off a 96 today for very cheap. I thought it might fit my 01 XLT but, due to the fact I was THERE I figured I could sell it later if not. The 96 had the back jump seats but not swing out rear doors like my 01 does. For the window I popped the interior trim and quite literally but carefully 'pushed' the window out. No bolts. As I read it, the 01 is bolts. However they very much appear the same size. So, my question is, can I fit this in and seal it in. Are the bolts not just holding the frame? I haven't pulled the rear window on my 01 yet, the right glass is shattered. So now I'm wondering if I can just do that side.
but to that end, pretty sure both were XLT or extended cab, whichever the designation. Could I not just gasket this one in and not use bolts, or do bolts just grip the frame or what?
Thanks for any help.
