Icon4 07 ranger overhead console

Did anybody here install an explorer over head console on a 2007 ford ranger? I heard that some people had some problems/finding with the vss wire? For the people that hooked it up, did you actually use the vss wire at all?

Thanks

You don't have to hook it up but it prevents the temp from updating during certain conditions.

ohh another questions, instead of hooking the power wire to the radio, I was thinking of hooking it to the ACC wire (same place I have my power window). That would work just as good right? Thanks

if your 07' is like my 05' the vss wire isnt hard to get. It will be located in the bundle of wires by the emergancy brake.

yeah that's right, I believe the vss wire on the 07 is located under the hood on the passenger side.

Do I need to connect the console display dimmer input wire? If I don't connect this wire, will it just stop my unit from dimming?

Yeah my dimmer wire is hooked up wrong, so it just stays bright all the time. The ACC wire will work if its hot when the trucks on.

So when its night and you have your lights on it dims the display so its not so bright, just like the radio.

Try this wire behing your radio:

Blue-White Dimmer-IP/SWITCH Illumination

This is what I found for the 07 ranger.

Blue/white is dash illumination for 2007/8. Earlier trucks use light blue/red.

is the VSS wire on an 07 in that bundle behind the radio bezel or is it in the kick panel like the one person said? I just put my ohc in and didn't hook up that wire yet because I didn't know where it was going to be

For 2007~2008, the corrected VSS wire (violet/orange) is found only in the engine compartment. It runs from the PCM to the speed control servo.
