rubber floors
Anyone have any clue how i can get rid of my carpets and go with ruber floors i think they might ahve come in some trucks that were BEAR BONE stock trucks
any idea were to find them fitted for my truck (97 ranger singal cab) |
Get the vinyl floor for a 95~97 XL Regular cab. It should be a direct swap for your carpet.

Once you open the can, you're suppose to use it asap or it'll go bad/harden/breakdown/something like that. If you do half and half you should be okay, don't know why you would though. Just get it over with. You have to wait in between coats, it'd be more of a hassle to do it that way.

I wonder if you could use a new model regular cab rubber floor from the dealer? I think that the only real difference between them and yours is that the cab is about 3" longer behind the doors so you may be able to just trim that off and use it. The rest of the rubber should fit up the same.

basically, it will take a few hours of prep work. depends on how fast you can tear down the interior, sand, vacuum, sand some more, vacuum, wipe with xylene, and then tape everything off. then come back and apply the liner. the application is super easy. it goes on very easily and quick. wait 1-4 hours before applying second coat. that goes on even faster. i suggest applying an additional 1-2 coats on the floorboard at your feet for the extra wear and tear. then you'll want to let it sit and completely dry at least overnight. if not more. just so it is not at all tacky. the beauty of herculiner is it bonds to itself, so you can go back later and apply more as needed/wanted. as long as you reseal the container, it will fine for future uses. we used a little less than half a gallon to do the interior of the S-10 above. you can run your wires under the doorsill trim.

I installed the Edge rubber flooring last weekend. Ordered it from Fordparts.com. Took about 3 hours total. Its alot of stuff to remove (i.e seats, seat belts, trim, cupholders, rear seats and belts). It turned out much better than I anticipated. The only problem I had was the drivers side floor didnt want to lay completely flat since they had to fold it to ship. After a few 80 degree heat and it flattened out nicely. Best mod yet!

I'll be looking to trade my black carpet for some black vinyl when I get my new seats =]
It's one thing I wish was an option on the Level II's in 02/03. Would have been the perfect truck right out of the box. |
