OHC display color Q's..

i know the 95 era Explorer OHC's have blue display, and the newer OHC's have green. but is it at all possible to change the green in the new OHC's?

i have 2 green display OHC's and i was wondering if i could change the color since everything else in my truck is blue. or should i just try and find an older OHC?

Yup.

The lens it what makes them green. The color of the display is a teal and the filter makes it green.

You can take a piece of smoked plexi and make a new cover. So it will be teal. As far as any other color you are SOL. As the display would need to be changed. Being a custom VFD it will be almost im possible to get the engineering info for it and get a new color made.

I think '95-'96 had the blue display and the '97-'01 has green. The '97 model I'm not 100% sure about though.

Actually, I have a blue display that I want to be green. I was looking to swap filters with someone on here... we could try that if you like...

And now that I think about it... the displays are just VFDs... (vacuum fluorescent displays)... I believe those are the same color no matter what. Could be wrong...

One last edit: now that I think about it, I think there are radios out there with multicolor VFD displays... so I dunno. If you're interested, mine is gray/black. Need to hammer out some details (modded mine a bit), but if you're interested let me know. I WANT TO GO GREEN!
