Specific help requested in wiring exploder seats

I am new to Ranger Forums. I purchased a 99 3.0 5speed ext cab 4x4 Ranger and decided the 2nd mod ( 1st was installing a Herculiner--now I have "Rock Hard" bed) and I am trying to finish the install of 2000 Explorer Heated, power, Leather seats (Limited). The write up that I have found have been helpful with a couple of caveats. On the passenger seat I hooked my power and ground to the wires in the yellow connector. I had an exploder. I just about crapped my pants. Now I have to have the seat sewn back together. I now have the motor working but do not know what wires to use for heat and lumbar.
The driver's seat has a connector with several wires. I am a bit stymied about the specific wiring for motors and heat/lumbar. I have dedicated hot wire to motor and an additional wire run for heat--not yet hooked up to power. Thanks for the assist. My other ride is a 99BMW 528 touring with Sport suspension, 17" wheels and 5 speed.

thanks
Mr. Lyme

Welcome to the forum. What colors are the wires in the connector?

Also, could you explain more as to why you had to sew the seat back together...?

When I hooked up the power to the passenger seat I mistakenly used the wires in the yellow connector. They are for the seat airbag. It exploded, therefore the need to repair the seam.

There are many wires in the connector for driver's seat. There are 4 wires that are larger diameter--one is black--I would assume this is ground but I may be wrong.
2nd is light blue(maybe violet) with white stripe
3 is red with blue stripe
4 is also red with blue stripe
The smaller diameter wires are a variety of colors.
I am somewhat colorblind so I am not 100% sure of the blue
One the passenger seat black with white stripe was power and black ground
there are two smaller guage wires that I assume are for heat

thanks for your help

I was fortunately at the front of the truck--hooking up the battery and the passenger doors were open. It still scared the crap out of me. I had to just laugh it off. I have chronic lyme disease and sometimes all of my synapses
do not fire correctly. When I got to the driver seat I cut the airbag connection off so there would be no repeat.

I may or may not have answers for you. Wait for the edit and you'll see...

Edit:

These are from 1999 Explorer Service CD's, they may or may not be the same for 2000's, but I would assume so.

-BK/WH is power for both sides, powering the Lumbar and movement functions.
-I'm guessing you have a few LB/WH & GY/YE wires in the mix. You can see in the 3rd picture where those two go. They control the heated seats.

-The last picture is where things get squirelly. IT is the diagram of how to hook it up to have the seat memorize the position. Let me look again and I'll be back.

Matt,
thanks for the wiring diagrams. I will print them out and see if I can make sense of them. Interestingly my driver's seat does not have a black w/white wire

OK, what I think is going on with the power for the DS is this. Looking on Page 122-1, you can see on the top left of the wires where it says W/ and W/O Memory Seats. If you were to have the seats that do not remember the position, the power wire would be BK/WH. Check and see if you have the memory seat, if you do, the RD/LB wire is most likely the power wire for the DS.

As a follow up, I forgot to put this one up too...
