Another OHC Question
I recently installed an OHC, and everthing went great (thaks to John's How-To)! The question is that I have the wire that is to be connected to the GEM. I have a 1994 Ranger XLT, and when I looked behind the stereo, I couldn't locate anything that looked like the GEM. Is there a GEM on the 1994, and if so where the heck is it. If there is not one, what am I supposed to do with this wire? Right now it is not hooked up and the temp stays the same and does not change with the tempture. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

In the 93 schematic (I don't have 94), there is a VSS wire that goes from the speed sensor on the transmission to the PCM and the Speed Control Amplifier. It is gray/black, the same color code as in John's How-to. I don't know if it has a compatible waveform and amplitude for the overhead console input but it would probably be your best bet for a speed signal.

No guarantee that this will work for the console but it is about the only choice for a VSS signal.
