in camera truck mount

after watching the video made by 4X2XLT (jeff) and talking to him via PM, i decided to find a way to mount my video camera in my truck. Jeff gave me a starting point to go from. Basically where i mounted this is where some trucks have there passenger airbag. I dont have one behind the panel. I took it off and went to work, with the help of my bro and Dad. well enough talking on to the pics

looks kinda dangerous if you get in a crash with a passenger. maybe shoulda fabbed a telescoping pole with something on the end to pull it out so the dash stays flat.

yea it is kind of permanent, but i plan on keeping the truck. the camera comes off the pole, i just wanted to be able to record while im driving, if i dont have a passenger with me. basically i just wanted a way to record hands free while driving. i realize there a hole in my panel, i can live with that. the mount itself is not permanent, its held in by two bolts. if i do take it out, ill be left with a hole. im not to worried about it

You should replace those hex nuts with wing nuts so you can quickly/easily remove it with out tools, get another panel, and voila!

Nice mounting system nonetheless.

thats a pretty solid mount there....and the wing nuts idea is deffinitely a cheap and easy solution for the passenger situation. Pretty cool!

pretty solid camera mount but personally I would never chop up my interior for something like that!

eh, id hate to see your passengers face after an accident, that could be quite ugly. Also, if you get into an accident yourself, that pole sticking up could become life threatening to you as well. When your insurence guy comes around, be sure to remove it.

looks pretty cool.... i wouldn't ride passenger with that thing like that until you remove it though, lol... nothing like having a pole sitting in front of you ready to impale you, lol.

i wanted to build one that basically mounted all the way in the back along the back window so you could see the steering wheel, as well as out the windshield.

I think this is sweet! I know once I get the 5.0 swap completed, I'll be wanting to get some in-cab video. You may have just inspired me, but mine won't be such a permanent mounting method.
